Patients Thigh Journey with us.

1.    Why did you decide to have plastic surgery?

Following a big weight loss over 20 years ago I was left with excess loose skin on my thighs. I had tried many forms of exercise over the years including joining gyms, cycling, swimming but nothing really helped.  I quickly realised that probably only surgery would solve the problem. Life, work commitments, finances all took prescedence, there was always a reason not to pursue surgery.  Fast forward to 2025, in my 50’s no longer working I thought it’s now or never!

2.    How did you hear about practice?

I heard about the practise after searching the internet.  I’d approached Spire and had an appointment with a consultant who was very dismissive and basically told me that it was a big operation and he could not guarantee positive results.  It was a very upsetting experience and I was very deflated afterwards.  Luckily I had read on line that the most important thing is to find the right surgeon for you and that it may not necessarily be the first one you meet but not to give up.

3. What made you choose Mr Winterton for your surgery?

When I did more research Mr Winterton was listed as one of the best surgeons in this area.  His reviews were all amazing mentioning his empathy and understanding whilst being professional and honest with you over the possible outcomes. I decided to make an appointment.  It was the best decision I could have made. From our first consultation I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to proceed with.  He was professional yet empathetic, interested in you and why you wanted the surgery and he made me feel comfortable and completely relaxed. Everyone I met that day at the clinic were really lovely and I knew there and then I would be booking the procedure with him and his team.

4. What surgery did you undergo?

Thigh lift

5. How do you feel your surgery went overall?

I was really impressed with every aspect of the surgical procedure.  The hospital staff were great from when I arrived for the surgery.  The anaesthetist came to see me prior to the surgery to talk me through what would happen he was really kind and calm . Mr Winterton also came to see me prior to the operation which was great as you weren’t left with any unanswered questions. Obviously I was nervous before the surgery but everybody I came into contact with were calm, friendly, reassuring and I felt safe.

6.  How did you find your recovery and the aftercare provided?

My recovery went really well, you obviously have good days and bad days and you have to adapt quickly to what you can and can’t do.  The aftercare provided is superb I was able to email or phone if I had any concerns. I also had numerous appointments at different milestones which was really good and it was reassuring to speak to Mr Winterton face to face to check my progress.

7. How has the surgery changed your life?

Its hard to explain how it has changed my life. I think only you can truly  understand what a difference surgery like this can make to your life.  I had developed so many work arounds which may sound odd but an example is wearing cycling shorts under loose summer trousers to stop my thighs from wobblying.  I never looked in the mirror at my legs, I wouldn’t use changing rooms in shops (too may mirrors at the wrong angles), I always wore a sarong over swimwear and declined invites to Spa days.

Now 5 months post op I can actually look in the mirror at my legs and smile!

8.  Would you be happy to recommend our practice to your family and friends?

I couldn’t honestly recommend Mr Winterton highly enough. Him and all his team have made something I had really started to think couldn’t happen to me a reality and a really positive experience.  It was the best decision I could have made
